     Seymour's Bird Refuge

As with all pets, people get parrots with good intentions. Unless this has been researched, they have no idea how high maintenance parrots are, no idea how loud they can be, no idea how patient they must be AND no idea how hard they can bite.

Some make great parents to these feathered individuals and some fail dismally. The product of this failure, if it survives, ends up being passed on to another home not any better than the one it left, or gets surrendered to a refuge. Meanwhile, the bird has lasting issues because of poor care, such as feather picking, distrust of humans, and screaming most of the time, to name a few. They need special care to bring them back to health physically and mentally.

At times, because of reasons beyond the owner's control, such as entering an assisted living facility, a serious illness that stops life in its tracks, or the child grows up, moves away and is unable to take his loved but loud parrot with him....we are here. To assist in any way needed with the bird in mind. Whether it is a need to surrender or to care for it for a week or a year, we are here. We provide the best of care, best of foods, and another chance for a happy life or a continuance of a happy life.

We do not breed and will not allow anyone with breeding in mind to adopt from our refuge.
